Lookie! I Made a Wedding Cake Topper!

Well, to be fair, it's the second plush wedding cake topper, but each one is special. My friends got married last weekend and I was asked to make a cake topper for their nest-themed cake. So I made them a pair of robins.

This is what the cake looked like - with them on it. Mission accomplished! It's a shame most of my friends are already married. This was fun.
More details and pictures here.
Ciao!

A Survey and a Giveaway!

As you might know, last year I started a new plush venture called Mystic Forest Dwellers. This year, I'm planning on expanding the product line with new, exciting work. My mind is absolutely buzzing with new ideas, alas - while I have plenty of ideas, I don't have plenty of time.

So I ask for your help! I'm conducting a survey! I want to hear from you what you'd like to see coming out of the shop next. Yep, you get to choose! Do you want new plush characters added to the shop? Maybe some stationary? How about some stamps, or sewing patterns, or something to embroider? - All will feature your favorite Mystic Forest Dwelles characters. How about them apples, eh?
And to thank you for sharing your opinion with me, I'm having a giveaway! Three lucky voters will get a Mystic Forest Dwellers button pack (6 buttons, hooray!). How to participate? Easy-peasy:

Go to our blog, right here. See the survey on the side bar? Cool! Now, post on our blog that you that you've voted (or on our Facebook fan page) - and you're in. Yay!
Thanks for participating!
Hugs,
Michal

My latest project - Mystic Forest Dwellers

This year has definitely been The Year of the Plush for me. I'm participating in three major plush shows, I taught a class about making plush, and have been working on one major secret plush project that is finally ready to be revealed. It had its ups and downs, debates, setbacks, collaborations and contemplations - until it took its final form and shape. I am so very excited to introduce to you my new project - Mystic Forest Dwellers.

Mystic Forest Dwellers is a line of plush, handmade in small batches, of a unique set of characters designed by me. They are are a bit animal, a bit magical and always full of personality. The line is made of five regular forest habitants and future limited edition friends that will come for short time visit. There are additional products planned for this line, so stay tuned.

You can follow the adventure of the dwellers on their blog, facebook page or twitter (yes, they have internet access and they are not afraid to use it). And most importantly...

Mystic Forest Dwellers will officially begin selling plush goodness on Thursday October 14th. This week, we will reveal a new design every day up to the beginning of the pre-sale, which will be Thursday September 30th. Crack your piggy banks and make room on your shelves kiddos because we are in business!

The dwellers and I are so excited, we can't wait to meet you!

Meet Fifi-Lou

Hello friends!
Please allow me to introduce Fifi-Lou, my latest plush creation, made for Plush It!, the coolest show down under.
She was based off a template the show organizers made, in the pink-iest of faux fur and wool felt, not to mention enough mischief for a classroom full of two year olds.

Monstrously Nice to meet you!

Hi there, y'all!
My name is Michal Wright-Ward and I'm new here, to theneedle.org. I've been kindly accepted to post on this blog and I'm so excited.
Who's me? I'm a character designer and plush creator from LA, CA. I've participated in Plush You, Dia de Los Plush, Plush It! and more. I love the plush scene, how creative and original it is. We're such cool folks, aren't we? ; )

anyhow, these are some of my favorite pieces of what I made this year, they're the "Monstrously Nice" gang from Crammed Organisms: Yorick, Olaf, Igor and Stella. They only look cute, but they're actually quite evil.
Enjoy!
Michal
