...this happened!. I suppose, when designing your own patterns, it should be chalked down to design development, as it's not always a case of right first time is it?.
I liked the idea of joining this blog as I love making soft toys, but didn't want my own blog to become too softie orientated, I think it works better being quite varied. It is great to now have here to totally indulge the world of plush!
And whilst it's lovely to see comments posted like 'wow, thats nice...', I'm also just as happy to receive constructive suggestions, you know, like 'try doing the legs this way', or 'I don't think those eyes work like that, have you though about doing them like this instead' etc...

I find making my own patterns and designs from scratch quite challenging. I made an elephant for my niece once, it helps to put an intersecting bottom piece between the legs for balance. Although I took the easy way out and just attached the legs separately with buttons. This gave them a neato action swivel effect. ;) Your elephant has personality and I feel that makes up for structural integrity.
Structurally, I'm a big fan of darting and gussets. You can get great dimensional functionality in legs and arms this way.
I'm a fan of origami. I do alot of patterning using paper grocery bags. They hold up well and are stiff enough fold into shape; which are then easy to mark for darting.
i make it up as i go along, which i guess isn't the best answer.
hello..i am visiting here...I am falling in love with plushie's softires etc...have some doll making experience and now these plushies are pulling me in...*sigh*and i am 'supposed' to be an altered art artist rofl!
looking at where your puckers are...did you clip your seams in many places. I have found when in tight places...clipping many many times around tight curves seems to help elimiate the puckers..these are cute btw!!!
