Reggie Watkins, Road Warrior

Another Side of Reggie, originally uploaded by qdpatooties.

Just finished this little "traveler" last night. His name is Reggie Watkins, Road Warrior. One half of him is made from a fiery red mohair ('cause he's burnin' up those Interstate highways) and the other half is made from a cotton map fabric of highways all over the U.S. He's been "aged" to look like he's gotten a little road grit along the way...

Fantastic! I'd love to travel with him. Where do you people buy your mohair? Is it expensive?

I buy mine from Edinburgh Imports (www.edinburghimports.com). Yes, it can be pricey but they do have specials.

The thrift store is also a great place to look. Try the lining of a raincoat or trench coat. Usually, the more expensive the brand, the more expensive the lining. I've found great cashmere, mohair and alpaca fabric that way!

Thanks for the comments!

He's too cute to be like Mad Max The Road Warrior. Neat idea!

Oh no, he's not at all like Mad Max. In fact, I don't think they're even related. ;-) Maybe distant cousins?

Great idea, q.d.! I'll check out the haul at my local thrift store.
