Pip and Paolo!

The brown little pup is "Pip" as a lil' outsider which was a commission piece! He's made from a pretty funky tie-dyed mohair and is a good compact size! His buddy's name is Paolo and he's one odd-ball darkish almost blood red color with a pinkish backing underneath all that fur...which is the result of being dyed a bunch of different kool aid colors! They are both made from mohair,5 way lock nut jointed, & needle felted! You can check out different pics of them here.

Softies for the children of Christchurch

Following the earthquake in New Zealand, Leonie from Kiwi At Heart has come up with a great initiative to get creative people involved. The idea is to make a special handmade soft-toy for a child who's been affected by the earthquake. It'd be great if you could participate. For more information on how to get involved, please click here or on the image above.

One of my little monsters is already on its way to New Zealand. I hope it'll help putting a smile on a child's face.

Bossy Bear

Bossy Bear, originally uploaded by qdpatooties.

I got sick of pulling out my sewing supplies each time I wanted to make something so I re-taught myself how to knit (like for the 95th time). This is what I came up with and it's my second try. A very simple bear with a little attitude. As a bear artist (primarily), I knew anything I made would end up as a bear so why fight it? Anyway, meet Bossy Bear who is all concerned with his TPS reports.

This pattern is called "Rab'star" (because one of the eye is a star). I like to use fantasy fabric like Toile de Jouy or printed cotton.

Angry Bird Plush Valentine

Nothing says "I love you!" like a handmade Angry Bird plush! ;)

A few months ago, I showed my husband a tutorial I found for the red Angry Bird at the blog Obsessively Stitching. After he saw it, he wanted me to make one for him...so I finally made him one and gave it to him today for Valentine's day.

Mr. Santini!

Here is Mr. Santini (thanks to hubby for the name!:) my newest lil' outsider! He's a bright blue rodent of sorts that I hand dyed with kool aid! He's a persnickety little fella whose pet peeves include crumbs on the bottom of his feet, folks who drive with their blinkers constantly on, and the sound of a knife scraping the bottom of an almost empty jelly jar! However, he is completely content sipping a good cup of joe (purchased from his favorite bodega!) and reading the paper on a brisk fall morning!:) You can see more pics of Mr. Santini here!

Fresh off the Hook!

Meet Oskar and his pet rat! This little monster is all hand crochet, as well as his little rat. You can read more about him and his rat on my blog here.

Also, fresh off the hook is a cute little "Dead" Bear. He is the first of many and is inspired by the Grateful Dead, if you couldn't tell! :)

Baxter Bug

Good day folks! My name is Sloane Solanto and I am also a brand new member of The Needle!!
I love to knit plush critters. No matter how many I make they never cease to make me laugh out loud! Probably because they each have a distinct personality.

All my patterns are original and just when I think I will never come up with a new one...BAM..I do! Sometimes it happens from a mistake, sometimes inspiration from a new textured yarn, and I especially love it when my 7 year old brother gives me yarn as a gift.... last year he gave me a skein of rainbow yarn and some solid colored fun fur..I had never used variegated yarn and usually used patterned fun fur and solid yarn (I knit with two strands)...I set them out on my work station and waited for inspiration to strike..and POOF...a new bug was born! A Catapilla'

This one's name is Baxter Bug.

Thanks to The Needle for having me and I look forward to sharing my critters with ya'll!

Sharktopus Plush

I'm a brand new member to The Needle, and this is my first post. *waves*

And what would be better for my first post than.... DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUN....
SHARKTOPUS!!! Half shark, half octopus, 100% cute!

Sharktopus Plush - Lounging

He's actually not that bad of a guy. He just wants to take a tiny nibble of your leg is all....

Sharktopus Plush- Watching TV

Here he is watching tv with my boyfriend. See, friendly as can be!

This was a recent commission a friend asked me to create for his girlfriend. Its a monster based off of a made for tv SyFy movie, Sharktopus. I'm really happy with how he turned out. I'm absolutely in love with his little tentacles and now need to think of even more things to add tentacles too. I received an email from the director of the movie Sharktopus, asking me what it would take for him to get one for himself. So now I'm working on another one for the director. :D

Thelonious....

Hey everyone!
Yet another newbie here! I'm really glad to be part of this plush community with like minded softie enthusiasts! This is one of my new lil' outsiders. His name is Thelonious and he is my second guy that has been hand dyed using the ole kool aid method...which I am growing rather fond of! I'm currently in the process of completing a mouse and another pooch with hand dyed mohair! It's so addictive & simple I've actually almost run out of white mohair! Anywhoot...he's also 5 way lock nut jointed, stuffed with poly, & needle felted.
You can check out my other guys here & here
You can also visit me at my somewhat updated blog:) 425sqftart.com

A needle felted addition.

Hello everybody!
Another new member here. My name is Hannah Moore. I am a Danish American living in Massachusetts. I just finished my masters' and now I am crafting like crazy to avoid having to deal with a "real" job:)
My plushies are mostly needle felted (that is my latest big passion).
Here are a few examples of the creatures I make:

If you would like to see more of my creatures, please visit my blog: Moore Creatures
Thank you very much and hope to see you there:)
