This is my new experiment. I got a home screen printing kit a while ago and I've finally started using it.

For its first outing I designed a business bunny and bear. Each one is different and there is only 4 made of each character.

I was happy with the outcome and I've made up some new designs for more.

Introducing Wee Buns!

Hello folks!
I have something cute to share with you- my favorite sort of thing to share with people. (Oh! And! Also, I am getting a new tiny camera today specifically so I can record cute things on the go and then draw them & hopefully share them with you, again. What fueled this camera buying insanity? Seeing massive hordes of tiny, but fat grey and black birds in a Lucky parking lot this weekend and NO CAMERA with which to prove they even existed at all! It was the most magical thing I ever saw. I post, therefore, I am.)
*end digression now*
Ta- da! Wee Buns! They're roughly Wee Goat sized, but they have one staggering leg up on the competition:

I made several of them for the Cabrillo show, and most of them decided that Santa Cruz was such a nice place that they'd live there instead of with me in the mountains. (To which I was all "Fine! Be that way!")


But this little cutie actually did come home with me- Dusty. So I promptly put him up for adoption. (It's his tail featured up top)

And that's it for today. I have a few albino (!) Wee Buns yet to photograph, but I can't wait to show them to you, too.

Oliver and His Whimsy Bunny Friends, Bubbles and Sprinkles

Well, Easter IS on its way. I look back and see Christmas, Valentine's Day and St. Patty's just over my shoulder! With the coming of this blessed holiday, Oliver has arrived to make his introductions, to take a bow and meet some new friends. Oliver is a lovely chap--outgoing, kind, charming indeed. He'll always hold the door for you, will never fail to offer you tea, and always calls the ladies "Mam" and the gents "Sir." Oh, they do not make them that way much anymore.... With him, he brings his two Whimsy Bunny friends, Bubbles and Sprinkles. (We'll get to them later.) Along with his two best bunny friends, he spends his time dying Easter eggs, throwing Easter Egg Hunt parties, and collecting chocolates, jelly beans, and marshmallow candies from those regions of the Patch where candy grows on trees.

Now that Oliver has been made his proper introduction, Bubbles and Sprinkles want their turns. Bubbles (the small bunny in cherry and lime) and Sprinkles (the bunny in chocolate and canary) carry the very important Easter responsibility of dying and decorating Easter eggs. Many assume that all bunnies that appear around Easter are Easter bunnies that spend their time delivering goody baskets to children. Not so! Bubbles and Sprinkles are expert egg dyers and have the most exquisite pigment collections. Anyone who receives a basket of their eggs is amazed at the quality of the egg decoration. They, however, never have the responsibility of delivering a basket. Their job is preparation, preparation.

Some brain experiments were conducted on this poor bunny, so he can be a little vague some times, maybe thats due to the fact that at times his brain pops right out!

But good news, because of all the scientific procedures performed on him, he can place his brain back in his head and he's all OK!

Favorite books characters always can inspire us. Recently I was trying to tell my daughter story about little girl in red ring hood and she was quite frightened and this inspired me to make something funny to chear up anybody frightened. I've made a plushie who loves to dress as a Red Riding Hood. It's a hare - in lack of better name called bunny - in Red Riding Hood outfit. Outfit was knitted. In her basket she has some goodies for her grandmother (carrots and wine), book to read oma some stories, and a wolf handpuppet (OK, for humans it would be fingerpuppet) to scare away any wolf.
And she goes to Blanka Helga - very tallented graphics artist who made really beautiful Red Riding Hood graphics.

I just finished this batch of sweeties that are off to Hawaii. Lucky things. It's still snowy and wintry here in Montreal, and sure to stay that way for another month at least.

I'm really enjoying all the toys I've been making lately. I bought good-quality yarn for the toys, so they feel soft and fuzzy. I dyed the yarn for their clothes in pretty Spring colours. And I still manage to infuse each one with enough character to make them special and endearing. Some of these guys are hard to part with.

New Patterns and Bunnies and Elephants, Oh MY!

It seems like all of last week I was goofing off playing around with some new anime style patterns I designed. I guess they aren't truly Anime but more like my own cross between Anime and Prim. Maybe I could come up with a new word for this style like "Pranime" or something?

Anyway, the first photo is of Nurse Nellie Nottingham, who stands all of 6 1/4 inches tall including her ears, is made from the mohair lining of a vintage coat that has been tea dyed, has jointed arms and legs, an embroidered face and hand painted glass eyes. As you can see, this little bunny nurse is trying to care for her poor teddy that has just added a bandaged ear to his other wounds. She thinks that perhaps a few carrots will cheer him up after his surgery but what he really wants is CHOCOLATE!

And the other photo is a cute little elephant named Myrtle McGillicuddy. Myrtle is made from sparse hand dyed pewter gray mohair, has olive colored glass eyes, is 4-way jointed, has a wired trunk and wears a funky little hat made from a vintage knitted doll cap. I used some vintage material from my stash to line her ears. I just love that print as it really shouts "Spring!"

Ms. McGillicuddy (as she prefers to be called) measures in about 4 3/4 inches and is weighted with steel shot. She's quite a handful in more ways than one!

I've just completed another bunny plushie. The last one I made had a nose that was just a little too long, so it looked more like a fawn's head than a rabbit's head. I've adjusted my original pattern and thought I'd share my results with you guys.
