Go Ask Alice.....

Hi Needlers, I haven't posted for awhile due to being ridiculously busy, but I wanted to say I am getting super excited about the upcoming Alice in Wonderland themed doll and plush show we are organizing at me and my dear husband's newly opened gallery Paul Cumes Fine Art..

down the rabbit hole!!!

So far I've made an Alice and a Cheshire Cat. I can't wait to see what all the other artists in the show will be making! The Raggy Rat sent me pictures of a gorgeous dormouse in progress...yeay! Check out her blog The Raggy Rat to see him, he is mighty cute. The lovely and talented Santa Barbara based doll maker Isgood has made a white rabbit. :-)

Save the date if you are in the Santa Barbara area, we will be having a Mad Tea Party themed opening event on December 5th...and you are invited to see the art and feast madly on gourmet chocolates by Jessica Foster Confections, cupcakes, champers and of course delicious tea!!!

The show will be up at the gallery until the first week of Jan and I will post mass amounts of photos, video, etc etc for all to enjoy...

Handmade Dolls in Santa Barbara!

Hi everybody!
I am happy to report that my husband and I opened a little art gallery last month in Santa Barbara, CA. and we are showing my handmade dolls and other creations. So far the response has been great, people really appreciate handmade dolls and respect them as art, and want to buy them for kids too :-)

I will be doing a group doll show in November/December if anyone is interested. The theme will be Alice in Wonderland. I hope to make it an annual thing with different themes every year. :-)

hamsterandHIPPO go to the Monkeyhouse

Monkeyhouse Toys in Silverlake, CA. just started carrying few of pieces my hamster + HIPPO one of kind dolls and plush on consignment, yeay!

I made this little film about Sophie Doll and Denise Deer before I sent them off. They love eachother.

I also sent this lovely little girlie named Renee to the Monkeyhouse

These sweet little baby deer were created and sent to the Monkeyhouse too...
It feels like it be Spring!

I found a few links with Widgets that everyone can put on their Blogs to help save our darling handmade toys from the Consumer Products Safety Improvements Act. The law was passed in reaction to the big toy makers toxic and deadly toys, and their cheap-ass manufacturing techniques. The act did not exclude handmade toys and will require us to get them safety tested @ $4000 per toy! 

 We have got to do something!
