Autumn Owl Nubbins

All the owl Nubbins I had made before were sold at the craft show last weekend, so I made some more in some cozy fall colors.

Orange Sweater Monster (with Yoda ears!)

I got a bag of sweater scraps last week from a good friend. They were scraps left over from her endeavors in making wool soakers out of recycled felted sweaters. In the bag were some lovely remnants of an orange sweater. I have a love affair with making orange monsters. I particularly love the color combination of orange and blue (I love it even more when the blue is more of a turquoise). Yay for complimentary colors!

Don't you just love his Yoda-ears? If I made him in green with a brown robe... hmmmm... I smell a Star Wars homage coming soon.

I liked doing his mouth differently too...not my usual white felt teeth or fuzzy lips (although I am quite overdue for making some fuzzy-lipped monsters!). I'm getting much more into doing simple embroidery on my monsters' faces lately.

A boodle of BunKins made from a very ugly sweater that felted into something wonderful! Magic! Tis the bunny season.....

Gyre and Gimble

I'm so excited to be a new member of this group! Let me introduce you to to Gyre and Gimble, the two headed Rat, Ardent Collector Extraordinaire, Purveyor of the Precious and sometime resident of Looking Glass Land. Duringa recent walk, this fellow popped into my head and proceeded to tell me the most marvelous tales. Gyre first told me that having two heads is very good in their business because it allows them to search in all directions at once, giving them quite an advantage over their competitors. He then claimed that they have found and traded all sorts of rare items on both sides of the glass and that, " if I was interested, they had a rare Jabberwocky scale in their possession right now"... which he proceeded to pull from his front pocket. Gimble quickly reminded him that the White Queen had first dibs, but I think he was angling for a higher price by the way he looked at Gyre from the corner of his eyes. I must say it looked to me like a common jingle shell but, when I remarked on this, they assured me that on the "other side" it was a sparkling many hued wonder... Then Gimble wanted to know if I needed any Bandersnatch feathers because he was sure they could get me some for a "very reasonable price." What a twosome!



While I thoroughly enjoyed their stories...although they do interrupt each other a lot!...they scurried around in my head so much that I just had to go ahead and get them made. Dolls can be funny that way sometimes....

Lucy with Flower

Made from repurposed and reclaimed fabric, Lucy is dressed in a grey plaid schooldress with Irish linen collar. She wears a scarf with green and red plaid.
Lucy's flower is a dark smokey purple bloom with sage green leaves. Her face is hand embroidered. Her hair is auburn wool felt with embroidery. She is stuffed with polyfil and bamboo . Legs are free swinging, arms are tacked into place. The doll does not stand alone, but will sit when propped. Size is 12 inches tall and 7 inches wide.
