Purple Scottie Sock Dog

Here is a sock dog I made from modifying a pattern I found in Martha Stewart's Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts.

This purple dog's square face makes it look a bit like a Scottie dog. (I'll have to make one like this from a black sock sometime)

Christmassy Sock Monsters

I've had some mismatched Christmas toesocks that I've been meaning to make monsters out of, but had been putting it off until the Christmas season...

I love that green button! It's my last one...which is mostly the reason he has only one eye! None of my other green buttons worked as well as this one, and I didn't have any other buttons that went with it. That's the beauty of making monsters...you can get away with giving them only one eye!

Trilli the Sock Monster

Meet Trilli...

"Trilli wants to be a hairstylist when she grows up. But she just can't seem to pass beauty school. Every person's hair she dyes turns out green! Trilli doesn't know what the big deal is...everyone loves green hair right?"

I love the pink & green color combination! Not a typical color combo I would love...but for a monster, I think it works very well. It has a certain girly appeal. I think pink & green is the hip chick's pink & purple. And I gave her the same cornrow style hair as Zogra...so her hair is very play-able. I can see some 'tween girl absolutely loving her.

Duke Moose, a friend made from socks

Duke Moose is king of a small village. They call him “Duke” because the village is too small to call him a king. I mean, really. When I say small, I mean small. Did I mention the village is one he made himself out of paperclips? That’s small. Of course, I mean it’s small by village standards. It’s not small by paperclip standards. In fact, by paperclip standards, it’s positively huge. Okay. Let me be more precise. It’s about the size of a small room. I mean, not a small room like a closet. More like a small dining room. Okay. Let’s say it’s about 10 feet by 12 feet. And about eight feet tall.

Wow. That’s actually pretty darn huge for anything made out of paperclips.

Okay. Let me start again. Duke Moose is king of a 960-cubic-foot paperclip village he made himself. And since he made it himself, he can call himself anything he wants to. He chose “Duke”.

Oh, and “Moose” is the name his mother gave him. His mother is Duchess Elk Elk. She is the queen of…

Oh never mind. Isn’t Duke Moose cute?

Dancy, a friend made from socks

“I AM THE ATOMIC POWERED ROBOT. PLEASE GIVE MY BEST WISHES TO EVERYBODY.”

There’s Dancy, stomping around with his ears in front of his face. He does this all the time. He flips his long, long ears over the front of his face, until they hit the ground. He can’t even see. Then he brings his curly red tail around the top of his head too, and pretends it’s a laser beam or something. Then he walks all over the room, proclaiming loudly who he is and what he wants to do. Today he is apparently a robot. He’s now repeated that line six times in the time it’s taken me to write this. Yesterday he was “THE LILY OF NEW PHILLY.” I don’t have any idea what that meant. But he wanted everyone to “TAKE A NUMBER, TAKE A SEAT.” Tomorrow he’ll probably be some sort of dinosaur or astronaut. Maybe a dinosaur astronaut.

Hey, Dancy, anything to say your new friends? “YES. TELL THEM I AM THE ATOMIC POWERED ROBOT.” Great. Well, dear friend, here’s the (ahem) atomic…powered…robot.
